Resolutions for 2008

As I sit here on a VERY quiet and uneventful night of New Year's Eve at home, I have been pondering some goals I have for this upcoming year. The reason why we are at home alone tonight, you ask...? Regretfully, it seems that we were a little too social this past week with Christmas festivities. The Rubster has RSV. Poor thing. Her little cough and congestion is heartbreaking and she HATES the blue suction bulb. She is still super smiley though! We took her to the doctor today and he sent us up to Primary's for a "Nasal Wash." She hated it. They stuck this little tube way up her nose and sucked all of her snot out (to test her mucous for RSV). She was so mad and crying so hard. I was right there stroking her head watching, trying to tell her that it was going to be ok but my voice was so weak and almost cracking because I was about to cry watching her go through that fairly simple procedure. Man, I feel so guilty. Anyways, that is why we are home. And, that is why I have a quiet night to set goals and resolutions for 2008.

This year, I will start training and on June 1st, I (with s few of my siblings) will run the:

For Christmas, my parents bought me a guitar. This year, I will learn how to play. I have already attempted and it is SO hard. Let me know if any of you have good tips or pointers.
Stemming from my high school days working at good old Uptown, one of my favorite things to do is to go and get a fountain drink. I love soda... Diet Coke is my drug of choice but I would have to say Dr. Pepper is my favorite (when I let myself have it-- the calories). So this year I will reluctantly give up Soda and try to drink water in its place.

This year I will go to the temple at least once a month. I need to take a little more time for myself and my spiritual growth and this is the perfect way to do so.
So, now I have all of you to hold me to these goals. Good luck to you with your resolutions.

Welcome Home Hermana Hickey!

One of my best friends Aimee Hickey got home from her LDS mission in Quito, Ecuador last night... well, actually this morning! We were all at the airport to welcome her home at 1:00am this morning. I missed Aimee so much and am so glad that she is home safe to spend the holidays with us.

We have a GRADUATE!

This post is dedicated to my wonderful, hard working husband who is finally done with school. Last Thursday, Adam took his last final. Hooray! He received his degree in Economics and is going to start working at a financial planning firm in February. I dug these pictures up to show you all how adorable he was when he was little.

Introducing: Camilla Scruggs Owen

We had a weekend full of festivities for Camilla and Jordan's wedding. It was such a wonderful weekend. Elder Holland performed their sealing and it was one of the neatest experiences I have ever had. I am really happy for the new couple and wish the best for them.

The beautiful bride. It was a little chilly... poor thing.

2 months!

Ruby hangin' from the mantle in a stocking!

Hazel (Kate's little girl) and Ruby. This was the best picture I could get out of seriously 50 pic's!

Hangin' with Daddy. Her little tongue has been white from day one! The Dr. says it is normal??
Twinners!

Hangin' in Bumbo

I can't believe that it has been two months since Ruby was born! It has gone by so fast and she is almost twice her birth weight! She had her two month Dr's visit yesterday and everything is great. She weighed 11 lbs 10 oz! She is becoming a little "chub." She got three shots at the Dr's and also had to drink a little yucky vaccine. Vaccines freak me out. There is just so much controversy with Autism over them... what do you do? It is such a predicament. I guess you just have to have faith that everything will be ok... right? Anyways... she was not happy about her shots at all. I wish I had videotaped it. She is a pretty good baby and does not cry very much but after her shot... she was screaming and her face was purple. It was so heartbreaking to see. I have to say though... her nurse was AWESOME. I think she was done with all three shots before Ruby even made a sound... so fast.

Ruby's Blessing

Little Ruby was blessed today and everything went so well. Adam did a wonderful job giving the blessing and Ruby (who was zonked out right up until the blessing) was quiet and alert. She looked adorable in her little white dress. We had so many friends and family present and I just wanted to thank everyone for all of their support and friendship. We felt so blessed to be surrounded by so many people that we love.
