INTRODUCING:
Greta Snow Jones
Born: September 3, 2011
Time: 9:13 am
Weight: 7 lbs. 2 oz.
Height: 19 inches
This little angel graced us with her arrival 10 days early. For those of you who are close to me... you know that that was the greatest gift I could ever ask for. It is an understatement to say that I was done being pregnant. I am really, really not good at being pregnant. She is here, she is healthy, and we could not be more in love with her.

BIRTH STORY
DISCLAIMER: May or may not be a tad too much information. I will try to keep it clean! After an appointment on Thursday (Sept. 1) afternoon, I felt a little different and a little achy. That night, I was not feeling too hot and started having really painful contractions around midnight. I kind of kept and eye on the clock, but was in and out of consciousness (trying to sleep)... and would just moan as the contractions came on. They were about 40 minutes apart. By morning they were consistently 13 minutes apart. I got up, showered and started packing my bags for the hospital. Contractions continued. Finally... I sat down to finish up to some loose ends for work and the contractions became more inconsistent. Did I mention that it was Adam's birthday!? They continued through the day and were super painful. I managed to make it to the grocery store to grab some ingredients for Adam's birthday cake. Went home, made the cake, and relaxed. My awesome sister Laura came over and took Ruby swimming for a few hours so I could rest. That night, contractions continued. Adam went and picked up his birthday dinner and we stayed in for the night. By 3:00am... I was miserable and so was Adam. We were both SO tired and trying to sleep in-between the 6 minute contractions was a joke. So, we headed to the hospital (IMC). Adam's parents met us there to grab Ruby and we headed in. I was worried they were going to send me home because they almost did with Ruby until my water broke... because I was not dilated at all... but this time I was dilated to a 4.5. Hip Hip Hooray. Baby time. After some fentanyl (pain med in IV) to take off the edge of the contractions, the anesthesiologist made an appearance and fixed me right up. We called my mom and sis (Laura) to come to the hospital. The on call doctor came in and broke my water. After a few hours I was only a 6+ so they started me on pitocin. My doctor happened to be there for a c-section and was in a hurry to make another appointment later that morning (hence the pitocin). I didn't mind though. Around 9:00 am, I was at a 9+ and ready to push. It seemed to be a much calmer atmosphere than it was with Ruby's delivery. Dr. Terry sat at the end of my bed and chatted us up, talked me through the breathing and the pushing. After not too long, Greta was almost crowning... I stopped pushing... they removed the bottom half of the bed and I pushed through three more contractions and it was over at 9:13 am. Greta was beautiful. They immediately put her on my chest and rubbed her down to make sure she was breathing. It was tough but definitely worth it and we are so in love with her.
The fabulous Dr. Terry hard at work.

Ruby and her "baby sister" whom she absolutely adores.
